Tanzania offers what few places on earth still can; truly wild water. The Mnyera and Ruhudji rivers flow through pristine African wilderness where tigerfish over 15 pounds aren’t rare, they’re the expectation. These waters have seen minimal angling pressure for centuries, creating a fishery that consistently produces fish of a lifetime. But this is more than exceptional fishing. It’s expedition angling at its purest; remote bush camps, dramatic landscapes, and wildlife encounters that rival any safari. Tanzania is where world-class fly fishing meets authentic African adventure.
BREAKFAST TO BANK LUNCH/ Mornings start early 6 am, with tea, coffee, rusks, toast, cereal and fruit available before heading out on the boats. A mid-morning coffee break is taken on the riverbank, around 10am—often in the shade of a large jackalberry tree. Lunch is also riverside around mid day, in a spot chosen by your guide for comfort, breeze and a good view.
NIGHTS WORTH REMEMBERING / Dinner is served either in the central mess area or alfresco at around 7pm, under the African sky. Meals are hearty and satisfying, made in a traditional bush kitchen—but the setting and atmosphere elevate them far beyond typical camp fare.
DHALA CAMP – MNYERA RIVER / Dhala Camp is the base for all anglers on their stay on the Mnyera River. It consists of 6 en suite safari tents, and a large dining and lounge tent. This is complimented by outside fire place and dining room. All tents, and the living/dining area, have outstanding views over the Mnyera River. Fall asleep to the sound of a rasping leopard, and wake up with the rising sun and splashes of feeding tiger fish, all in the privacy of your cabin. Meals are enjoyed in the main central camp area under canvas, overlooking the river. This area contains a small library, lounges, bar area, electric points for charging cameras and laptops, and a comprehensive fly tying station.
SAMAKI CAMP – RUHUDJI RIVER / This rustic bush camp is your base on the Ruhudji River. It too is erected each season and is the smaller sister of Dhala Camp. Its location on the banks of the Ruhudji River allows access to these productive waters. Samaki camp comprises of traditional Safari tents, all en suite, with twin or double configurations. The mess area is situated in the shade of the riverside forest, although most meals are enjoyed alfresco, under the stars on a beautiful sandbank in front of the camp. Samaki camp has no electricity.
NOTE: Both camps operate on a combination of solar power and a backup generator, providing 220V electricity throughout.

RATHER THAN FOCUS ON THE MISSED FISHING TIME, WE URGE GUESTS TO ENJOY THIS AMAZING JOURNEY THROUGH THE AFRICAN BUSH AND TAKE THE TIME TO VIEW GAME AND LANDSCAPES THAT ARE AS WILD AS THEY WERE THOUSANDS OF YEARS AGO.
